The Ball State Cardinals' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Army West Point Black Knights at 5 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at Scheumann Stadium. Army will be strutting in after a victory while the Cardinals will be stumbling in from a defeat.

Ball State came up short against the Toledo Rockets last week, falling 22-12. Ball State's loss came about despite a quality game from WR Justin Hall, who caught eight passes for 131 yards.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 15. K Jacob Lewis delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

Meanwhile, the Black Knights beat the Miami (OH) RedHawks 23-10 last week. The squad ran away with 17 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the win. QB Christian Anderson was a one-man wrecking crew for Army, rushing for two TDs and 240 yards. Anderson put himself on the highlight reel with a 75-yard TD scramble in the second quarter.

Ball State is the clear underdog, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn't have high expectations for them since the team is 0-2 ATS when expected to lose.

Ball State is now 1-3 while the Black Knights sit at 4-0. A couple offensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The Cardinals are 187th worst in the nation in yards per game, with only 317.8 on average. Army has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 244th fewest passing yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 70.5 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
